So one thing we did this summer was ventured into the world of dogs. Not only one, but two puppies! We started with wanting just one. Leilani is a shihpoo (a Shitzu Poodle Mix). She looks like a shitzu but because she was bred with a poodle, she won't shed! Fabulous! While waiting for her to be ready to be weaned from her mom so we could pick her up from the breeder, the neighbor brought over a Min Pin puppy. It was love at first sight and we got him too. His name is Tank. We wanted a big mean dog name because he thinks he is big and mean. He is not! They are opposite in personality. Leilani is so laid back and Tank is a little firecracker. However Tank is the first to climb on your lap and fall asleep. They were born two weeks apart and have become the best of friends. They commonly fall asleep on each other, provoking yet another kodak moment. They have been great fun for our family.

October 1, 2009

What a crazy summer this has been! First of all I (Christy) have been in a non-weight bearing cast for three months now. October 7th I finally get it off. It got really old about two months ago. I never realized just how hard it is to do things without the use of one leg. Chris and the kids have been very supportive, however I am sure they will be glad when I can be more independent. At first it was fun to help mom, but now it is getting old. They all cringe when I call their name.

Chris is now off work for the month. He had carpal tunnel surgery on his right hand. It was so bad his hand was going numb just brushing his teeth! So between his one hand and my one leg, we make a whole person!!

The kids have all started school and are doing well. This year Anthony is doing school at home online. California offers online schooling to a limited number of students in each district. It is called California Virtual Academy. It is pretty cool. They sent us a computer, printer, all the text books, science experiment kits, art supply kits, and teacher edition books so I can teach Anthony further if he is stuck on a subject. Everyday he logs online and takes lessons, takes online tests, and attends virtual live chat/classroom instruction. It is amazing. Although he is having stress wondering about the most important thing in a 13 year old's life...how am I going to find a girlfriend by not attending public school????Oh what is he going to do!

Alison is in the 6th grade and her teacher has moved up a grade with the students yet again. This is the third year in a row she has had the same teacher. This is actually a good thing, since she likes him. I think it is great because he already knows the kids really well and their learning styles.

Lani is in 3rd grade this year. Her teacher Anthony had for 4th grade so we are aware of how great she is already. Lani loves school and is excited that she is getting baptized on October 10th!

Welcome Family and Friends

So I decided this would be a great way to keep everyone updated since I am bad at keeping in touch. I am a little dissapointed since I have so much free time...between soccer practice (at two different fields), football, team mom, scouts, band, piano, kids homework, school projects, two jobs, motox races, paying bills, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, washing the car, working out and of course scrapbooking! Needless to say, this past year has flown by fast!...which means I haven't done a good job staying in touch. For that, I truly apologize. (Bare with me while I put up this Blog)Let me get you caught up:

Chris is still working for the California Highway Patrol. May 2008 was eight years. He is still riding motorcylces for them and loving it, especially since they just went to 12 hour shifts. He is still working out of Redwood City (75 mile commute) but worth it to him since he has so much seniority in that office. Plus it doesn't hurt that he gets to take the bike home. People tend to get out of his way when he gets behind them, thus making a quick commute! He is still racing motox and rides every weekend. He just cant get off two wheels, whether at work or play.

He also has decided to use his GI bill before he loses it and is doing college online. He gets his AA in November and is already signed up for the BA program. His GPA is currently 3.83...way to go Chris!

Christy is currently working two jobs. She decided she couldn't handle the feast or famine pay of a Realtor and decided to get another job, and just do real estate part time. In December 2007 she started as a legal clerk at Solano County Probation and loves it. She is finally using her paralegal degree and following her passion of working the criminal justice field. She plans on becoming a Probation Officer within the next year or two. She is still really into scrapbooking and even teaching a class monthly a church.

Anthony is now 12 and likes to keep busy! He has played football the past two years. In December, his Pee Wee football team, the Solano Warriors, went to Nationals in Las Vegas. They took 2nd place. Since Christy was the team mom, that automatically made her the trip manager for 30 families...with all her free time! It was stressful but worth it. But the 4-5 practices a week from July - Dec took its toll and he wanted a break. He took this year off tackle football. He started middle school this year and is in 7th grade. He is playing soccer, involved in scouts, rides dirtbikes with dad, snowboards, is in band playing percussion, and on the honor roll. He also has his phone ringing off the hook with all the girls that like him! I would say he is doing pretty well.

Alison was a cheerleader for the Solano Warriors and cheered for Anthony's team. It is cool that they are so close in age that she could do that. She is now 10 and went into the 5th grade this year. She is currently taking piano lessons from grandma Fawson. She loves to scrapbook with mom and draw. She also likes to snow ski. But don't let the age 10 fool you, she is all drama, already!

Ka'iulani (Lani) is our little daredevil. She loves to ride her dirt bike and nothing scares her. She definately gets her personality from dad! She loves to snow ski and is playing soccer this year. She just turned 7 and is in the second grade. She keeps mom on her toes!

Seems like we are always doing something to keep busy. If we aren't at one of the kids games, we are either at the lake, camping, riding or snowboarding. Now if we could only find a way to fit more hours into a day. If anyone has figured it out, please let me know!
